Colleen Stapleton
Colleen Stapleton is an award-winning contemporary realist artist in Sydney, Australia. With a passion for figurative art, she paints to try to depict the beauty and complexity of the human form. This year she is a finalist in the Darling Portrait Prize – to be held at the National Portrait Gallery opening in March. In 2019 she was a finalist in the Portia Geach Memorial Award, Kennedy Arts Prize, KAAF Prize, Lethbridge 2000 & International Art Renewal Centre Salon. Career highlights include winning the 2018 A.M.E Bale Painting prize, Florence Academy of Art Scholarship, JAAS Brett Whiteley Scholarship, and winning the KAAF Highly Commended Award. She has exhibited in group shows nationally and has studied in workshops at the Repin Academy (St Petersburg), Florence Academy of Art, Realist Academy of Art (Toronto), and with Stephen Early from Studio Incamminati. She also has a Bachelor of Fine Art from Griffith University and a Diploma of Art from Julian Ashton Art School.
