Heather Brunetti

Heather Brunetti (b.1978) is an American figurative artist best known for her dark moody oil portraits and depictions of small moments with big impact. Heather’s paintings often include intense detail and photorealistic textiles. Heather was born in Cincinnati, OH and now lives and paints out of Louisville, KY.

Heather Brunetti depicts moody characters from all walks of life in a photorealistic style. Her subjects show emotion and depth; they are characters that invite the viewer to ponder their situations, sometimes painted with a hint of satire. Brunetti’s portraits often contain effects of depth and perspective giving them a feeling of occupying true space. Paying close attention detail and painting textiles with high realism her paintings are a playground for the eye. In one of Brunetti’s most recent series she explores the natural light and amazing spaces of a Victorian mansion as a setting for subjects.

Artist’s Statement:

“I describe my oil painting technique as scrubbing and scribbling. I have no grandiose brush strokes. My tiny scrubs and scribbles disappear into the subject and leave only a feeling and mood behind. My goal is to spark curiosity and wonder through relaying a real feeling of depth and volume. I want my viewers to feel as though they occupy the same space as my subjects. I strive to capture a feeling and communicate it through a familiar thread of experience that runs through us all. “
