Anita Dewitt American, b. 1977 was born and raised in and throughout Colorado. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Fine Art and her minor degree in Psychology from Colorado State University in 2006. Anita has since dedicated her life to being a figurative painter and sculptor. Anita’s artworks have won multiple awards throughout southern Colorado. In spring of 2013, she was asked to create two large paintings for the permanent collection of Fremont Center for the Arts. Her painting “engaging her intellect…” was published in Acrylic Works 3 in 2016. Many of Anita’s artworks are in private collections nationally and internationally. Anita currently resides and works from her home studio in Canon City, Colorado.
